The Factors Behind Stained Teeth
Why do our teeth develop unsightly brown or yellow stains with time? A number of factors could be responsible. For example, if you have a diet high in sugar and starch, this could promote plaque buildup that makes discoloration more visible. Likewise, lack of proper brushing and flossing, or infrequent visits for cleanings, could allow plaque and tartar to grow in severity. If you drink beverages with dark pigments, such as tea, red wine, soda, or coffee, this could also cause stains to form on your teeth. Smoking cigarettes and using other tobacco products could be a factor too. As part of your treatment, we will examine your smile to assess the cause and severity of your discoloration, allowing us to select the best teeth whitening procedure for you.
Our In-Office Whitening Option
With our in-office teeth whitening treatment, our team can provide results in as little as one hour. If you need a brighter smile quickly before a big event, such as a graduation, first date, or job interview, this is a great selection. The process is simple. Our team will take time to add a protective layer over your teeth and gums, and then we will apply the bleaching gel to the front of your teeth. Next, we will activate the gel with a light, which breaks up stains and helps brighten your smile by several layers. In one appointment, you obtain a much brighter smile!
Achieve a Brighter Smile at Home
If you have more severe teeth stains, then we could offer an option you can use from the comfort of your own home. With our take-home whitening treatment, we will offer a set of custom-made plastic trays and several plastic syringes of bleaching gel. At home, you will fill the trays and wear them daily for a set amount of time, usually 30 to 45 minutes a day. Over the course of one to two weeks, this can brighten your smile by several shades, often as many as eight. You can then keep the trays and any remaining gel for touch-ups as needed.
